How long does a session last?
Do I need to be married?
Can I come on my own?
How long does a session last?
I have small children - can I bring them with me?
How much does it cost?
If I change my mind, what should I do?
Where do I come?
Who will I see?
Many people seek help with their relationship problems and our resources are limited. The more flexible you are, the sooner you will be offered an appointment. Prior to your first counselling appointment, you will receive an Initial Interview when information regarding counselling will be given. We will also seek information from you which will be passed on to your counsellor. We aim to offer clients an initial appointment within 10 days.
When an appointment is available, you will be telephoned by a receptionist. We will speak only to you or leave a message to contact "Mrs Black". If you prefer, we will write - but this means we will be unable to offer a last minute cancellation.
We ask all new clients to telephone by 12 midday, two days before their first appointment to confirm they will be coming. If the appointment is not confirmed it will be offered to another client.
It is essential if you accept an appointment at a time you can regularly attend. Please let the receptionist know if this is likely to be a problem, for example, if you work shifts or if you work offshore. etc.
No. Anyone who is concerned about their adult relationship may seek counselling.
Yes, if your problem concerns your relationship. However, your counsellor may advise you it would be more helpful to see both partners.
Approximately one hour. Your counsellor will discuss your problems with you and s/he can help you deal with them. Counselling offers the opportunity to work on your problems and think things through. While this may be painful or difficult at times, your counsellor will be working with you.
If necessary, your counsellor will offer you a series of appointments at the same time each week.
Yes, but it is preferable parents do not bring young children. We appreciate this can sometimes be difficult, and if it is unavoidable, your children can be cared for by our receptionist.
Our service is free, but as a charitable organisation, we rely heavily on voluntary donations. To provide counselling, each session costs Couple Counselling Tayside £30 and we would welcome a contribution towards this cost. Please remember, however, counselling is available to everyone, whether or not they are able to make a contribution.
For your convenience we offer Switch and Visa facilities.
Let us know immediately, particularly if you have accepted an appointment, as the counsellor comes to the Centre specifically for your counselling session.
If you can't come, please let us know in plenty of time so that we can offer the appointment to someone else - at least 24 hours.
Our centre is on the ground floor at 201 Blackness Road, Dundee, which is situated at the junction of Rosefield Street and Blackness Road.
